Rachel Alejandro expressed her positive reaction to the buzz surrounding her playing former Vice President Leni Robredo in a possible biopic, a role fans have championed due to their striking resemblance.

While flattered by the comparisons, Alejandro revealed that if she were to bring the politician’s life to the screen, her focus would lean toward exploring the family dynamics rather than highlighting her political career.

“Maganda rin siguro maano ‘yung buhay niya, ‘yung family life, kasi parang ‘yun pa ‘yung hindi natin masiyado alam because we know naman ‘yung record niya bilang vice president, I think public record na ‘yon. Maganda siguro din, if it were for me, kung meron parang personal step rin na mareveal tungkol sa kaniya bilang ina, bilang asawa. Like bakit ba well-loved ‘yung si Robredo, and diba mystery nga ‘yung pagkamatay [ng asawa niya],” she told INQUIRER.net in a recent one-on-one interview.

Alejandro, who’s active in both her Philippine and Hollywood careers, is set to star next in the upcoming film adaptation of the musical “Nasaan si Hesus?” She also recently starred in the musical film “Song of the Fireflies,” which is scheduled for its world premiere on February 1, 2025, in Los Angeles as part of the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF).

When asked about her dream role, Alejandro shared that she wants to do a project that would tackle the greatness of Filipinos in the singing aspect.

“More than any role, I would love to parang spearhead a project na would really highlight sa mundo ‘yung magical singing talent ng Pinoy. Parang to deal with finding out ‘yung ano na paano ba tayo ganon, historically. Bakit sinasabi ni Ariana Grande na the Filipinos are the best singers in the world. Paano nangyari ‘yon? Saan nag-start ‘yon? Parang magandang to make a project, like sa pami-pamilya paano namamana. Binubuo ko pa kung ano ‘yung concept, but that’s the kind of project na gusto ko gawin in the near future,” she stated.

The company said the news was shared with Ayala employees, and that “the family requests privacy during this most difficult time.”
